Kent County Delaware

The English began to settle in the valley of St Jones River. Dover became the capital of Delaware in 1777 and by 1787 Delaware was the first to ratify the U.S. Constitution and became the First State.

Kent County, in the 18th century, was a farming region of grain. In the 1960's ILC Dover manufactured the spacesuits worn by the astronauts of NASA for the Apollo moon flights. ILC Dover continues to manufacture spacesuits to this day.

Kent County Delaware (which happens to border its namesake Kent County Maryland) has so much to offer the visitor or the person living in the area. On the city streets you can see Amish buggies, view the shore birds look up in the air and see the giant C-5 Galaxy military cargo planes. Looking for culture visit the many art museums and historical sites. Looking for some action check out the NASCAR races, or play the slots and bet on harness racing.
